POST ANESTHETIC RECOVERY ROOM (PARR) NURSES Our nurses care for adult and pediatric patients during the acute post-surgical phase and have specialized knowledge in sedation/ analgesia, anesthetic agents and techniques and the physiological and psychological responses to them. Our hospital’s inter-professional teams of registered nurses, anesthetists, surgeons, respiratory technicians, undergraduate nurses, and supporting staff care for a wide variety of post-anesthetic patients including, cardiovascular, thoracic, neurological, orthopedic, general, gynecological, EENT, urological and plastics. We offer staggered 8 & 12 hour, days/evenings/night shifts (utilized with rotating on-call shifts); modern, well-equipped units; wide variety of patients; professional, supportive nursing staff; relocation allowance; specialty education; access to expert clinical nurse leaders and clinical nurse educators and a comprehensive orientation for new employees. OPERATING ROOM (OR) NURSES Our OR Teams consist of Operating Room (OR) Nurses, Post-anesthesia Recovery Room (PARR) Nurses and Sterilizing and Processing Department (SPD) Staff. Vancouver Island has operating rooms in Victoria, Nanaimo, Duncan, Port Alberni, Campbell River and Salt Spring Island. Visit our website for more details on all our operating room facilities. KEY FACILITIES Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals in Victoria are the Island's primary centers for Trauma, Neuroscience, Pediatric, Orthopedic, General, Obstetric, Cardiac, Thoracic, Renal, Urological, Vascular, Retinal and Oncology services. Between the two centers there are 24 operating theatres. Both hospitals offer a host of specialty services. Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, located mid-Island, is a major referral centre for General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Plastic Surgery, Gynecology/Obstetrics, Facial/Maxillary Surgery, Ophthalmology and Urology. A new 8 suite Operating Room, Post Anesthetic Department, Surgical Day Care Unit and state-of the-art Sterilizing and Processing Department opened in April 2005.
